Eric Pierce Proctor Lecture ARVO 2023

Eric Pierce, MD, PhD received the Proctor Medal at the recent Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) meeting in New Orleans. Dr. Pierce is the Chatlos Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Ocular Genomics Institute at Harvard Medical School and Mass Eye and Ear. The Proctor Medal is one of the most prestigous acheivement awards in vision science, and is given to honor outstanding research in the basic or clinical sciences as applied to ophthalmology. The recipient presents the Proctor Award Lecture at the ARVO Annual Meeting. Dr. Pierce was recognized for his contributions to understanding the genetic causes of inherited retinal degenerations, and developing genetically informed therapies to reduce vision loss from these blinding disorders.
