Services provided by the core:

  • Housing and general care of zebrafish (feeding, breeding, health monitoring, system maintenance)
  • Training in zebrafish handling and husbandry
  • Assistance with zebrafish protocol planning and preparation
  • Propagation of wild-type zebrafish stocks for embryo production
  • Importing and maintenance of transgenic or mutant lines
  • Fertilized wild type embryos for injection
  • Microinjection of zebrafish embryos
  • Morpholino-based gene knockdown strategies (including assistance with design of morpholinos for specific genes, evaluation of knockdown efficiency on mRNA level, and generation of constructs to obtain wild-type and mutant mRNA for the human orthologues for complementation assays)
  • CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and establishment of edited lines (including assistance with design and generation of guide RNAs to target specific genes, and evaluation of CRISPR/Cas9 efficiency in vivo)
  • Molecular biology and histology (in situ hybridization, histological, or immunohistological analyses)
  • Vision assessment (visual motor response)
  • Intraocular pressure measurement
