Zhigang He Receives Vision Restoration Initiative Award

Zhigang He (Boston Children’s Hospital) received a
2022 Vision Restoration Initiative Award from the Gilbert
Family Foundation. These awards support the
development of therapies to restore vision loss caused
by neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), a genetic condition
that causes tumors to grow along the nerves.
Zhigang will receive $1,204,897 over the course of three years to explore novel
strategies of protecting retinal ganglion cells and their axons in NF1 optic
pathway glioma models.
